Mary Carmichael has a Bachelor of Arts in Community Health Education from California State University, Chico. She attended the Antioch New England Waldorf Teacher Training Institute and completed her studies at Rudolf Steiner College. Mary began her journey in Waldorf education through the work of anthroposophical medicine, where she worked with medical professionals to educate parents on how to care for their young children, protecting their senses and supporting their healthy development. Eventually, she was called to parent-child work and early childhood teaching. Then, a first grade beckoned, which began her treasured 16-year journey as a grades teacher. Her interest in healing and curative work stayed with her, inspiring her to enroll in the Extra Lesson program between her first and second classes. She completed the Remedial Education Program through The Association for Healing Education in 2015. Today, she works as an Education Support teacher and is passionate about incorporating curative and Extra Lesson work into education. She is inspired to reinvigorate and reinforce Steiner’s essential curative contributions to educating today’s children, which is truly a healing education.
